Lawrence Lessig addresses TED

TED is one of those events I’d love to attend one day, wouldn’t you? A select gathering in beautiful Monterey, addressed by some of the finest presenters of our age? What’s not to like?

Recently, the team at TED have been making a sterling effort to bring some of their back catalogue to the web, and a number of these are high on the required viewing list here at Talis.

The latest addition to that particular set is this video of Larry Lessig of Creative Commons fame. I’ve seen Lessig speak in person a couple of times, and he’s one of those presenters… up there with Steve Jobs, Dick Hardt and their ilk.

Watch and learn as Lessig

“gets TEDsters to their feet, whooping and whistling, following this elegant presentation of ”three stories and an argument.“ The Net’s most adored lawyer brings together John Philip Sousa, celestial copyrights, and the ”ASCAP cartel“ to build a case for creative freedom. He pins down the key shortcomings of our dusty, pre-digital intellectual property laws, and reveals how bad laws beget bad code. Then, in an homage to cutting-edge artistry, he throws in some of the most hilarious remixes you’ve ever seen.”

And for an alternative take on two of those great presenters, listen to two of my earliest podcasts… with Dick Hardt and Larry Lessig.
