Web 2.0 Summit - Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia
Posted by Paul Miller at October 18, 2007 12:29 AM
Anssi Vanjoki now takes to the stage, to show us the context-aware Internet...
Nokia still leading mobile phone manufacturer globally, and more people currently own a Nokia than have ever simultaneously owned any other consumer product.
A new product concept - a computer that's in your pocket all the time, that's connected to the network 24/7, that never has to be woken up from standby... (a smartphone...)
The web is becoming context aware... and users are becoming increasingly 24/7 because of the connected computers in their pockets.
(A dig at Apple?) - Nokia building open solutions, on top of open service apis called OVI.
Now unveils Linux-based N810. It includes GPS, and apis that expose locational data to make the device and applications running on it “truly context aware”.
Nice phones, Nokia. Certainly nicer than my horrible SPV...
